Porting of parallel applications in scalable distributed
networks have been studied. As an example, matching pursuit, a
compression algorithm for two dimensional images based on
time-frequency dictionaries, has been efficiently
implemented on a NoW.
The research is now continuing with a PhD thesis, considering
parallel computing for 3D data visualization and compression, in
order to make the transmission of large 3D models over the
network a feasible task.
